1:Why have a membership policy?
To keep our events as enjoyable as possible, we have the following rules for members. This group is run by a team of Coordinators & Members who volunteer to host fun and unique social events. These rules are strictly enforced by one of those teams, the Membership Team, a group of assistant organizers who handle membership issues.
2:Who can join this group?
Anyone who is a Goan or his spouse is a Goan can join this Meetup group - we love hosting events with fun members! However, the Membership Team will remove members who do not abide by the spirit of what this group is all about. Membership in this group is considered a privilege, not a right.
3:What personal behaviors are grounds for removal?
Member removal is done by the Membership Team, not by the group organizer. There are many reasons why a member may be removed from this group (with or without warning), including:
3-a:General rudeness and anti-social behavior
3-b:Excessive drunkeness
3-c:Overly-aggressive approaches towards the opposite sex, to the point of discomfort
3-d:Rudeness to the volunteer hosts who donate their free time to help run events
3-e:Excessive Drunkness
3-f:Attempting to crash parties or events without RSVPing
3-g:Using the Group platform to promote personal agenda’s or events without prior permission
4:What online behaviors are grounds for removal?
4-a:Contacting multiple members online (via e-mail or greetings) whom you have never met. This group is not an online 'friendship' or dating site. Since we require photos of all members, we take this rule *very* seriously.
4-b:Over-promotion of one's business or social group. We will allow a brief mention of what you do in your profile. Member names cannot be of businesses nor contain URLs.
5:Why am I required to have a personal photo displayed?
Each member must display a clear, identifiable personal photo. Not of a cat, or a cartoon character, or a tree, but of you. For all events, especially those at a private residence, we want to see who is coming and have a record of attendees. In addition, photos help speed up the check-in process at each event.
6:My RSVP has been changed from 'yes' to 'no'. Why?
6-a:There are two possible reasons - you do not have a profile photo or
6-b:you have been a no-show at a previous event
Members who have had their RSVPs changed can re-RSVP 'yes' (or join the waiting list if the event if full) once the problem is corrected. If the member has prepaid, the member can request a refund if they do not get back into the event's 'yes' RSVP list.
7:How do I check in at an event?
When you show up at an event, there will be a sign-in sheet posted with names and photos - make sure that your attendance has been recorded. Our Hospitality Team greets members and helps with introductions when you arrive.
8:What is a No-Show?
A No-Show is obviously someone who RSVPs 'yes' for an event and then does not attend. We simply ask that you change your RSVP to 'no' so that a wait-lister may attend. The cut-off is atleast 2 days in advance of each event in order to give another member time to adjust their plans.
The volunteer teams put a LOT of work into planning, prep, hosting, and cleanup. We do NOT mind if someone changes their plans; we just want someone else to be able to attend!.Also consider the food we may need to order or prepare ,being wasted.
